Habitat gives Taosenos a chance to own a home in their community. Homeownership through Habitat for Humanity of Taos is affordable. Monthly mortgage payments never exceed 30% of a homeowner's monthly income. Our program also prepares our partner families for homeownership through sweat equity, financial classes, and homeownership counseling. Habitat for Humanity ReStores are nonprofit home improvement stores and donation centers that sell new and gently used furniture, appliances, home accessories, building materials and more to the public at a fraction of the retail price.

The Questa Lodging Project started as an idea in the summer of 2017. It is an innovative economic development tool utilizing existing Questeños’ vacant homes. A revolving loan fund helps legacy families fix and rent their historic homes, adds affordable housing, creates jobs, and draws-in newcomers to the community. We are a non-profit, non-partisan organization organized exclusively for the charitable, religious, educational and scientific purposes under section 501c(3) of the Internal Revenue Code

The New Mexico Mortgage Finance Authority is a self-supporting quasi-governmental entity that provides financing to make quality affordable housing and other related services available to low- and moderate-income New Mexicans. Using funding from housing bonds, tax credits and other federal and state agencies, MFA provides resources to build affordable rental communities, rehabilitate aging homes, supply down payment assistance and affordable mortgages, offer emergency shelter and administer rental assistance and subsidies. MFA partners with lenders, REALTORS, nonprofit organizations, local governments, tribal communities and developers throughout the state to make these programs and services available to all eligible New Mexicans. Winner of the prestigious Piñon Award, Self Help, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting those in need in northern New Mexico. Since 1969, Self Help, Inc. has provided consultation and advocacy, emergency financial assistance and seed money grants to residents of Los Alamos, northern Santa Fe, Rio Arriba, and Taos counties. Each year, through grants and private and public contributions, our organization is able to support those who need help most, during emergencies or in the quest to become economically self-sufficient. Self Help is a member of United Way of Northern New Mexico Serving Los Alamos and Rio Arriba Counties.

The Taos Coalition to End Homelessness (TCEH) are the owners and operators of the Taos Men’s Shelter. We offer low-barrier access to overnight shelter, food, laundry, showers, peer support and case management 365 days a year for the homeless men of Taos County. Our trained staff support our guests in coordination and cooperation with local service providers, charitable foundations, town, county, and community members.

Taos NEST is a multi-agency project with the goal to assist community members in accessing emergency shelter and support services. Taos NEST is a collaboration between CAV, DreamTree Project HEART of Taos, Taos Men's Shelter, Youth Heartline, St. James Church, and other service providers to support adults and families experiencing housing insecurity and/or homelessness. 18 years+, both women and men, check-in 6-9 p.m. Families with children are eligible for a hotel voucher program.
